Kyla Helm-Swanson, MD, FAARFM, ABAARM

Board Certified Family Medicine and Functional Medicine

Dr. Kyla Helm-Swanson, MD received her Medical Doctorate from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine in 1993. She then joined the Army and completed a Family Practice Residency at Ft Benning, GA in 1999. Realizing that much of medicine was not being adequately managed by traditional Western medicine, she completed the UCLA Acupuncture for Physician Course in 2001. After serving her country, she furthered her education by becoming Board Certified in Pain Medicine in 2004. 
 
Dr. Helm completed her third board certification in Functional and Regenerative Medicine and is now an Advanced Fellow in Restorative Medicine, completing the program in 2011. She has been using a Functional Medicine approach to health care with Nutrition as her platform with great success in patients of all ages for the last 14 years. She returned to Rapid City, SD and joined Manlove Brain and Body in 2017. She worked there until she opened Balanced Healthcare in 2020. She specializes in finding the reason for symptoms and disease. With this information, she then partners with her patients to create a personalized care plan using integrative therapies. She maintains dual Board Certification in Family Medicine, and Functional and Regenerative Medicine.
 
She has traveled extensively with her husband who retired from the US Army in 2013. She has 2 children and lives in Rapid City, SD. 

Angela Ratzsch, CNP

Angela Ratzsch CNP Has been practicing functional/integrative medicine since 2019. Angela has a background in Internal medicine, obesity medicine and psychiatry.

She has always had an interest in wellness and helping people live their best life and enjoys working with people to achieve the results they are looking for. Angela combines conventional medicine with integrative modalities to help people achieve their goals.

​

Angela has lived in Rapid City since 2006. She has been a nurse since 2001 and a nurse practitioner since 2016.

​

When she is not working she enjoys travel and spending time with her family.

Lindsey Hansen, CNP

Lindsey Hansen, CNP started her medical career with a Degree in Sports and Exercise Science, graduating from University of Northern Colorado in 2008. She worked in clinical research at Monument Health while she pursued her nursing degree. She graduated from South Dakota State University with her bachelor's in nursing in 2013. She worked as an intensive care nurse for five years until she pursued her Master’s Degree.

 

She graduated from Clarkson College with her Masters of Science in Nursing in 2018 and became a Certified Nurse Practitioner. She has practiced in cardiology as well as psychiatry since graduating. She has always had an interest in treating the patient as a whole and is excited to start working in Functional Medicine with Dr. Kyla Helm- Swanson MD.
